The PrePress Specialist is responsible for preparing and processing digital files for print production, ensuring accuracy, color consistency and adherence to production specifications. This role involves reviewing and editing artwork, setting up files for various print formats and collaborating closely with designers, project managers and the PrintProd team to ensure flawless print output. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of prepress processes, color management and printing technologies, with keen attention to detail and proficiency in industry-standard software such as Adobe Creative Suite.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
General Activities
Review incoming files for accuracy, completeness and adherence to job specifications.
Preflight files to detect and resolve errors related to fonts, colors, image resolution, bleed and layout.
Manipulate and adjust artwork as needed using Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat).
Prepare digital files for output to proofing devices or digital presses.
Perform color correction and match proofs to expected final output.
Archive, manage and organize digital files for efficient retrieval and reprint.
Maintain an understanding of evolving print technologies, software and industry best practices.
Assist in printing prototypes and hard samples in-house as needed.
Quality Control
Follow quality control procedures to ensure deliverables meet internal and client standards.
Maintain print samples for hard proofs and production samples to maintain quality standards.
Process Improvement
Analyze departmental processes and protocols to identify areas for improvement for prepress operations.
Maintain and improve strategies to increase efficiency, reduce errors and streamline operations.
Communication
Communicate with designers, project managers and print production team to clarify requirements and resolve issues.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION & SKILLS
Education, Certifications & Experience
Degree or equivalent experience in graphic design with a strong prepress and printing background is required.
3-5 years of experience in prepress and print production.
Skills
Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
Strong understanding of color, layout, file formats, bleeds and print requirements.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with flexibility.
Bonus: Experience or interest in operating large-format/flatbed printers or cutters.
Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Good communication and time-management skills.
Knowledge of print production methods such as offset and digital printing is preferred.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Clear written and verbal communication skills.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This is an in-office position in our new Akron facility.
Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time.
Fast-paced, deadline-driven production environment.
May require occasional overtime based on project timelines.
Some lifting and material moving required (paper rolls, magnet rolls, large sheets of styrene, etc.).
